  Event Description

Bao Gong Temple is erected to commemorate the esteemed justice. Built in 1960s, it has moved from Pasir Panjang to its current location  since the early 90s. A man who fought and cared for the people, Bao Gong’s benevolence spirit is kept alive through the temple’s teachings and the work done for the community.

The temple provides a serene place for prayers. But it also reaches out to the community in unassuming way. From its humble kitchen, it has dished out many scrumptious meals for the poor and aged during the Lunar New Year Charity Dinner, a tradition that was upheld since decades ago. To date, there are 7 homes for the aged on its care list. Besides the charity dinners, it also offers annual donations for the homes’ upkeep and expenses.

It was through donations from devotees that had enabled Bao Gong Temple to grow. With a mission to reach out to a greater community, Bao Gong Temple will be raising fund to build a new temple in order to extend a firmer help to the poor and aged. In the new temple, there will be more display of Bao Gong’s teachings and his inspiring life story. An underground exhibition hall with the theme of Hell in Chinese mythology will also be built. The estimated building cost is $1.5 million.

For the 2nd consecutive year, Bao Gong Temple hopes to raise the funds through their Signature Golf Challenge on 12th October 2007 at Raffles Country Club. This year, in addition to the attractive sponsored door gifts and Hole-in-One prize, the focal point of the evening dinner will be the Grand Final of the inaugural Miss Singapore ASEAN Beauty Pageant where 18 finalist will be put through the paces to vie for the coveted crown and subsidary titles. The organiser has kindly agreed to support the committee noble cause to fund the temple construction project. To our supporter, Bao Gong Temple appreciates all forms of contributions and donations as no donations are too small to make an impact.
